    Quick answer

    How does the process work?

Five steps. You complete a free, five-minute eligibility form; a specialist calls you within 24 business hours to review your loans; if the situation fits, we introduce you to a vetted independent partner provider that performs the work under its own credentials; you contract directly with the provider (their fees are disclosed to you in writing before you sign anything); and the provider carries out the approach you approved. Private Student Loan Aid is a consulting and matching organization — we do not perform validation, negotiation or consolidation ourselves. Programs typically run 18 to 60 months.

Full transparency on the process. Nothing moves forward until you review and approve it.

    01
    Day 1 · Under 5 minutes

    Free eligibility form

You complete a four-step form covering your loan type, balance, monthly payment, state of residence and contact details. No credit pull, no cost, no obligation to continue. If the numbers or the state disqualify you, the form tells you so before you finish.

    02
    Within 24 business hours

    Free specialist consultation

A specialist calls to review your loans, your situation and what you are trying to achieve. The call is free and there is no obligation to continue afterwards. If nothing we offer fits your case, we tell you plainly on that call.

    03
    Day 2 – 7

    Written action plan

Your advisor verifies your loan details and outlines an approach — debt validation, lender hardship program guidance, or consolidation — along with the expected costs, program length, risks and alternatives. You review it before anything happens.

    04
    Day 7 – 14

    Introduction to the partner provider

If you decide to proceed, we introduce you to a vetted independent partner provider. You sign directly with them and they disclose their fees to you in writing beforehand. You contract with the provider, not with Private Student Loan Aid.

    05
    Month 1 – 60

    The work is carried out

The provider carries out the approach you approved and reports progress to you. Programs typically run 18 to 60 months, depending on your balance, your servicer and the documentation in your case. You keep control throughout and can leave the program at any time; leaving early may affect whatever has been achieved up to that point.

    Frequently asked questions

Common questions about how this works

What qualifies, what we do and what we do not do.

    Which private student loans qualify?
Private student loans from any non-federal lender or servicer. Federal loans — Direct, FFEL, Perkins, PLUS — do not qualify, and federal borrowers can access consolidation, income-driven repayment and forgiveness for free at studentaid.gov. The balance generally needs to be $25,000 or more in order to be eligible.
Is Private Student Loan Aid a debt settlement company?
No. We are a consulting and matching organization. We are not a debt settlement company, a consolidation company, a law firm, a lender or a debt collector, and we are not affiliated with any government agency or program. We do not perform validation, negotiation or consolidation ourselves. We connect qualified borrowers with an independent partner provider who does that work under their own credentials.
What options can be part of the plan?
Depending on your loan documentation, your servicer and your situation, the plan can include FDCPA debt validation (a right you hold under federal consumer law), lender hardship program guidance, or private loan consolidation counseling. Your advisor will explain which of those realistically apply to your case — and which do not.
What if none of the options apply to me?
Your specialist will tell you plainly, on the free consultation call, when nothing we offer would help you. There is no penalty for that, and there is no obligation to move forward. If federal programs are the right route for you instead, we will point you to studentaid.gov so you can access those for free directly.
How long does the whole process take?
The eligibility check takes about five minutes. The specialist consultation happens within 24 business hours. The written action plan comes within about a week. If you decide to enroll, the provider's program typically runs 18 to 60 months, depending on your balance, your servicer and the documentation in your case.
Do I have to enroll after the consultation?
No. The consultation, the assessment, the plan and the introduction to the partner provider are free and carry no obligation. You can walk away at any point up to signing the provider's agreement. Even after signing, most programs allow you to leave, though leaving early may affect whatever progress has been achieved.
